These are the paintings where I don't plan much. I just start moving color around and see where it leads. I layer, scrape back, add marks, and keep going until the surface feels alive and finished to me.
Some end up calm, some are busy and loud, but none of them are studies or test pieces. They are the real thing, painted for the simple pleasure of painting.
